I would suggest that it boils down to the sort birding (or whatever use you intend to put them to) you do most.  These days, unless I am on a birding specific trip, I bird in between other errands or activities.  That might be while skiing, biking, dog-walking, running kids around, whatever.  Under these circumstances, smaller is better for me.  Having something folded up and tucked away in a pocket allows me to see a lot of birds I'd miss because I just don't want anything dangling around my neck when I'm out and about.  There's also an element of being happy not to have to explain why I have binoculars with me.  It's surprising how many people ask about my binoculars when I do leave them out (around my neck).


I'm not sure if the size difference between the Curio and the VP 8x25 would warrant getting both, but if you can afford it, it's a really nice quandary!
