Hello bird forum
I have a question I found a sparrow on my garden it could not fly very well it looked like a young bird and as i picked up its parents appeared on the fence chirping very loud. The bird had either broke or deformed I didn’t know what to do I put it on top of my shed which it sat there till one of its parents came to it.it seemed to tell it off the next thing it flew away I’ve tried to entice it back to see if it has survived I just wondered what’s it’s chance of surviving with deformed or broken legs.

Hi Dracoon and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. You have actually done the right thing, let the parents take care of him. I've seen birds survive with, what appears to us, quite sever leg injuries, including the complete loss of a foot.

A wing injury is different though.

We have some general guidelines, if you become more concerned about him, here for the care of injured and baby birds.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Thank you delia for your response and your welcome I do sometimes have questions about birds and usually google them but as I now know about you and your colleagues I will call upon you in future.and I’m glad I did the right thing with the sparrow

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

If it is young, it could still be developing its flying ability. Good idea to leave it for the parents.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group.
