ID Black Winged Stilt or Pied Stilt (1 Viewer)

This is a juvenile (scaly appearance, not deep black). What you call it depends a bit on the taxonomy you follow.

Some hold there is only one species with a worldwide distribution but about 6 distinctive races. Others split this into 4-6 full species. In either case, this should be the race/species "black-winged stilt".

"Pied stilt" is reserved for the Australasian form which has a black hind neck (adults) . In contrast, in your bird we can see some black on the hind neck and head but it is not extensive or strongly developed

See e.g.

Now I see, thank you! This will help a lot with future spotting.
