Iceland or Glaucous Gull Hamilton, ON, Canada (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone

Just photographed this one earlier this afternoon and can't decide if it is an Iceland or Glaucous Gull. Unfortunately it never left the water so I couldn't get a picture of the legs. I've attached two pictures, one with the mouth closed, the other open.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Paul

Ditto Glaocous Gull; probably a second winter.

It's a bleached juvenile (1st winter / 2nd calender year). Take your pick of terminology! A 2nd winter (3 cy) would show more pale on the bill tip and a distinctly pale iris by now (and some grey in the mantle).

Cheers

Pete
