How many birds in a flock? (1 Viewer)

Hi Joyce,

I've never heard of a specific number for a Flock.

However in most dictionaries a flock is a Group or a Crowd.
So you would have to ask how many in a Group or Crowd?.

In the UK under recent laws the police can disperse teenagers, make them move on or take them home if there is a group of more than Two, also there's the old saying; Two's company, Three's a crowd.

So, i would think the answer to your question would be Three or more would be a group or crowd and also be a Flock.

Regards

Abbygirl,
There are lots of terms for a group of birds (or animals), with many being just for a particular species. Geese form a flock (optional) or gaggle when they are on the ground, a skein when flying or wedge when flying in formation, for example.

Here's a link to a thread that gives some of these Groups of Birds nb - careful reading here, some are for real, others are for fun.

Enjoy, and here's to a more colorful speech!
