how do I report a Dead Racing Pigeon? (2 Viewers)

Buddhist Vegan Birder

wrong place, wrong time
Hey,

I found the remains of a racing pigeon in a car park close to me and noticed it was ringed. I took the ring home and have identified the type of ring it is on the Euring website and followed the links through to the Royal Pigeon Racing Association website, but end up going around in circles on there when trying to report it. Can anyone help?

The bird had a green closed ring, and the code is V33642 GB 08.

thanks, Lisa

Lisa.

If the bird was the victim of a falcon, don't mention it. Probably just date and location will be enough. Pigeon fanciers (do they still call them that?) already hate peregrines and don't need any more ammo (no pun intended).

Twite.

If you haven't sent the ring yet...tell them it was an emaciated corpse that you took the ring from.... that rules out falcons, they don't usually touch carrion.

Thanks Twite and Keith!

Luckily I am lazy and I am only just getting round to emailing them about it. As it happens, what was left of the poor bird was flat in a car park so it looks like it'd been run over to be honest!

Thanks, Lisa
