House Finch Abandoned Nest (1 Viewer)

Hi, not sure I'm posting in the correct lace, but hopefully someone can help me out. We have a house finch nest in the eaves above our front door. House finches have been nesting here for the past 3 years. Mama bird just had four babies, they began hatching this past Sunday (3/27). We have a camera on the nest and last night I noticed mama was acting a bit weird, jerking her head around and scratching it against the nest. Didn't think much of it, and she spent the night in the nest on top of the babies. I went over today's feed this evening and saw that she was doing the same thing this morning from 0700 - 0900 hours. It also appeared to me that her eyes were closed. So I think maybe something has happened to her and she can't see anymore. At any rate, she left the nest around 0900 this morning and hasn't been back. Dad came back throughout the day and fed the babies. But now I'm concerned because she hasn't come back and I don't know if the babies will be okay with no one to keep them warm. I know I shouldn't touch the babies, and I haven't. Just wondering if anyone here can offer advice, or if this will be an unfortunate "this is just nature" type of situation. I have really enjoyed watching them for the past three years, and I would hate to think these little babies won't make it. If anyone can give advice or an opinion that maybe mama will return, that would be great. Thanks very much for your time!!
