Hi Folks
As a UK birder who visited AZ in 2013 , looking through my photos I came across the following taken at Ramsey Canyon Preserve in May 2013
I am not a hummer expert but I have an idea what this bird is , but would value a second opinion from AZ birders
who see hummers on a regular basis!

I have included a photo of a male Magnificent hummingbird seen at the same spot to the same scale to give an idea of size
sorry but the photos are a bit grainy
Thanks
PS I tried the general ID section of the forum already but only got 1 reply!
PPS I have happy memories of visiting Ash Canyon/the late Mary Jo Ballators property ; she was a lovely person who treated us
with much patience as hummer newbies! and I am sure there are AZ birders out there who remember her fondly

Agree with Brad
YES!!
That was what I thought but wanted a second opinion from US birders who see hummers regularly
Quick story ; back in 2010 visited Beatties ranch and thought I saw blue throated , then last month looked at my notes which said "blue throat with purple crown" so was magnificent not blue throated!
Forward to 2013 and Ramsey canyon : the photos above were taken at random!
Looking again at them 11 years later I thought I don't believe it! That hummer looks as big as the Mag sp which I knew
was large ; checked myNatGeo bird book and the female blue throated hb drawing could have been taken from my photo
Thanks guys

Been lucky enough to see 13 hummers sp in the US with 10sp seen in AZ in 1 day in 2010!
You are so lucky to be able to enjoy these gems ; wish we had them in Scotland but too cold!
