Hello, to all. I'm 65. I'm not a professional photographer. I understand the basics of the 3 main settings in a camera. I never bothered to learn in-depth settings for different situations such as we have witnessed this year in the Northern Lights. My daughter got a great shot of the lights with her phone from our backyard.
I like to learn more about astrophotography with clear skies and absolutely no surrounding light in my backyard in New Hampshire, USA.
My first camera was FED 3, 25 mm, Russian made that my mother got me as a gift when we went to Russia when I was 5, that was in 1964.
At that time that camera captured great colors, and a great Bokeh effect, I did not know what that was then, had a mechanical timer on it, and came with a hard leather case with a snap button. I still have that camera but no place around here to develop film anymore.
I used that camera until got a Cannon PowerShot A590IS, 8 Megapixels, 4x optical zoom.
I recently got the best camera that I have ever owned a Minolta MN53Z, 53x OIS wide-angle zoom. This camera for a hobbyist is a charm. In auto, the camera senses what situation and switches the settings automatically. I got a good picture of the crescent moon on June 11, 2024.
I would like to learn about nighttime sky photography.
