HBWAlive Key to Scientific Names in Ornithology (1 Viewer)

I take the liberty of raising this resource again, following some recent comments in the threads 'Field guide for whole Indonesia #88' (not Spanish but Portuguese, Robert), and 'AOU 2017 Checklist proposals #86' (Mark, don't guess - Noveboracum = New York). The Key is probably the most up to date, reliable and complete listing of scientific names for birds (including synonyms and some substantive names), is open to all, and is free - so please use it.

Hear! Hear! I consult the Key almost daily. A most valuable and entertaining resource. . ..

James, from my point of view, in my experience ... you could have left out the word "probably".

Melanie, I pointed that out back in August 2014 (here), but for some reason it wasn't´t accepted.

However, I agree, I still claim the same.

Björn

PS. However; it doesn´t change the fact that the Key is the most up to date, reliable and complete listing of scientific names for birds. ;)

Melanie, (and all other who post links to the Key), remember that the Key is Alive. It´s not like linking to a book or likewise. If anyone believe an entry in Jobings HBW Alive Key is erroneous or lacking information it´s not a good idea to start with a link to it. If James accept the suggested amendment and changes the Key the first link will end up with the updated version.

In such issues it´s better to quote whatever one feels ought to be changed in the post itself.

Like for example, your recent post 4 (above). Now, when you click on that first link, you´ll end up with:
mazarbarnetti
Juan Mazar Barnett (1975-2012) Argentinian ornithologist (Cichlocolaptes).
This surely can make future readers wonder what we´re all "on about". Suddenly there´s no 1973 anywhere, making the initial post looking a bit confused.

Keep up the good work!
