hi there i am thinking of purchasing the new hawke endurance ed scope as i have just purchased the 8x36 hawke endurance binoculars and i am very pleased with them for the price wondering if anyone has used the new ed scope and what they think of it thanks

I have looked at this scope myself and I'm much the same as yourself, I have just got a pair of frontier 8x43 ed and I am very pleased with them, I want to replace my old scope and if the hawke is anything like as good as their bins then I'm sold.

I just upgraded to the hawke ed85 from a Theron Saker ed60.

Plus side: Bright, Sharp, Crisp, Beautiful image. Watching gold crests at 250 metres on 20x, no need for zooming in, perfect ID. Took it to Insh Marshes reserve, up to 40x watching the ducks and swans, seriously was a joy. Its sharp, very sharp. Over water at Findhorn Bay looking down into the village, no problem with number plates on cars at a mile, no problem at all.

Major plus is that hawke have a 33x fixed wide angle for digiscoping eyepiece just released, and I'm waiting for mine :).

Down side. Dual focuser when new needs working on. Mine took two days to get used to, then I just enjoyed the scope as it eases up real quick. Does take four turns to go infinity to real close focus, like 5 metres, however, once set up for mid to long its a case of fast focus as the depth of field is great.

All in all am I happy with my purchase? Ecstatic to be frank. Its bright, very, very bright, well corrected very low CA at the edges image, and sharp 99% edge to edge wise with only a tiny amount of image softening at the last 1%.

PS: Eye relief is good. Glasses up to 50x for my wife full field of view.

Star test ?

Ratal, are you maybe planning to do a star test and perhaps show us some photos of the result ? ;)
