Has anyone used the Water Wiggler in their bird baths? (1 Viewer)

Just soliciting some reviews or experiences with this product.

How long does the battery last? Does it do well in winter in a heated bird bath?
Never used it, but it does say "Safe for use with heater." So it should work in your heated bird bath. Looks like it alone might keep water from freezing, since it keeps the water moving.

Drake.

I'm really wondering if birds seem to be attracted to the moving water or if they're scared of the running unit.

Hello. Mine worked for less than a year and then completely shut down. My advice, fill out the warranty and send it in.

Just want to note that (ordinary) batteries shut down at low temperatures. I am not sure how cold it gets at your locale, but anything battery powered at my locale is completely useless outdoors in winter time.

I would add that moving water can freeze so don't expect a unit like this to keep water open, especially since do re meep meep pointed out that batteries slow in cold.

This had me creased earlier, 3 glasses of red so restraint abandoned :D:D:Dwhat the h-ll is a water wiggler :h?:

No offence intended Happy New Year All

LMAO ya this thread found a whole new direction

I see no need to attract birds to water. they seem to have absolutely no problem finding it. I just wish I could find a solar heater for mine that did not break the bank considering the baths are 50 cent planter saucers. BTW they work GREAT and I can easily replace one shoult it get nasty and they fit tight on top of an upside down five gallon bucket

Joshua,

I found the wiggler to be an intriguing product as well. I just ordered a heated birdbath and was thinking about getting a wiggler to put in the center. I am going to drop by my local bird feed store tomorrow to check out the wiggler in person. I'll report back if I decide to get it.

I just yesterday ordered it blind. I didn't do my due diligence, but my bath is new, and I haven't seen any birds in it yet, so I'll try to report back here if you haven't decided by the weekend.

I dropped by my local Wild Birds Forever store today to check out the water wiggler. It is larger than I anticipated. My initial concern was that it might take up too much space in the bird bath and not allow enough bathing room. I ordered a 20" Allied Precision heated bird bath online a few days ago. Luckily the store I went to today also had the bird bath I ordered on display and it looks like it will be plenty large enough to accomodate the wiggler and have space for bathing.

The wiggler seems a bit pricey for what it does, ($24 here locally, as high as $30 online) but seems sturdy. The local store here only had green ones in stock so I didn't buy one today. My bird bath is a tan color and I'd like to get a wiggler that is a closer match in color. I have a birthday coming up soon so I think I'll add the wiggler to my wish list. I'll report back when I aquire it and have had a chance to test it out.

I had the chance to look at an (electrical |8.|) water wiggler and wonder whether an air pump blowing bubbles (as in an aquarium) would not do the same if not better job because the sound of moving water would be a bit louder with the latter (assuming an air pump of about the same price as the water wiggler). The air pump requires a cable to an outlet, the water wiggler requires a battery, with each powering method having its own pros and cons.

Edit: I found a battery driven air pump http://www.petsandponds.com/securestore/c152231.2.html but it's a 'weakie' although cheap.
