Great Blue Herons Have A Third Eyelid, (new blog post)
It wasn't until I was out on the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge a couple years ago when I learned from my photos that great blue herons, like many birds do, have a third eyelid. It makes sense that they have a third eyelid but I never really thought about it until I came home and was editing some close-up images I took that day of a great blue heron on the famous Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge auto tour route. Learning about birds is definitely one of the main reasons I go birdwatching so much, especially with my camera when at all possible.
