Goldfinches and suet (1 Viewer)

Over the past couple of days, I've noticed a goldfinch feeding from the peanut suet, even when there were no other birds taking up all the room on the sunflower seed feeder. :eat: Anyone else found this?

Not touching Niger

The gold finches in my garden are feeding on sunflower hearts and leaving the niger seed feeders well alone? :h?:

There has been an ongoing study recently by the north american group Wild Bird Feeding Industry and they have found some interesting things.

Their results suggest finches like sunflower hearts a lot, possibly more than thistle. Another surprise was that juncos, the little winter sparrows if you are not familiar, do like the thistle more than the millet or cracked corn that most other sparrows prefer.
