Giant orchids from Oxfordshire. And red kites (1 Viewer)

Red kites were wheeling overhead. Directly overhead and past me.

A few years back, a colony of giant orchids (Himantoglossum robertianum) was discovered somewhere in Oxfordshire. The individual who discovered them did not want to reveal the location on the internet. And he should be the one who reveals it when ready.
These plants aren't native to the UK. Not yet, perhaps they will colonise on their own accord one day.
But I was able to track them down just by using what was available on the internet! And was almost spot on. I just had help in narrowing down the exact location. If anyone knows the site, you'd understand why.
The slope was incredibly steep. Three times I fell, one time almost sliding down the slope on my backside for the orchids growing annoyingly halfway up the slope. Red kites wheeled overhead, whistling to me. One flew as close as 10 meters from me!
And, of course, what I was there for.

I counted 5 flowering plants and 13 plants in total. But the discoverer messaged me later and said he counted 64 of those orchids on the slope!
Hopefully those orchids can be given the protection they deserve. They might not be native, true. But they might be colonists.
