Gelatin Seed Cylinder (1 Viewer)

I'm going to try and make a seed cylinder using gelatin and some B.O.S., Millet and alittle bit of corn. I plant to make the cylinder about 8 inches high and 4 inches across. I've figured out what to use as a mould, and how to get the seed out.

I guess my major question would be, How much gelatin to use? I want to use enough that it can withstand some moderate weather, but not too much that the birds need a jackhammer to get a seed.

Has anyone tried to do something similar, and if so can you give me any tips or tricks.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

B :)

Success! I managed to make a cylinder and so far its holding together. The first visitor was unfortunately a Brown-headed Cowbird. Not the best first visitor to have , but at least he stayed at the feeder for 10 minutes.

The true test will occur tonight as its supposed to rain.

The cylinders been up for a week and has become very popular. It looks like I'll be making another in the morning because the first is almost gone.
