This has already been discussed somewhere perhaps, but I have not found it.
Can someone point me in the right direction to convert field of view of meters at 1000 meters, to feet at 1000 yards?

Say it is 133 meters at 1000 meters.

How many feet at 1000 yards does that equal?

This does not seem right, --- but maybe it is? :

1000 m x 3.28084 ft/m x 914.4 m/1000yds = .399 ft/yd or 399 ft/1000yds

So, just multiply whatever it is in meters x 3, and you get the answer?

Hi,

TLDR: ft@1000y = 3 * m@1000m

tfov in m = tfov in deg * 17.45

tfov in y = tfov in deg * 52.5

PS: and welcome to BF!

Yes. The reason is that you have 3 feet in a yard.

128 m/1000 m is the same as 128 yards/1000 yards, and it would be sane to leave out the unit altogether, because it doesn't matter.

If ypu want to go to insane mode, use two different units for each part of the ratio. I suspect it started as a marketing ploy by a competitor trying to sell binoculars with inferior field of view, but I can't prove that.

Regards,

Henning
