Sad in many ways, not least that the change is due to climate change. The Bewick's Swan study is an example of the importance of long-term monitoring programmes.
Such a shame that WWT decided only 2-3 years ago to cease many of their long-term single-species studies in favour of other projects.

For the swans, it is actually very good. Shorter migration means less dangers and energy expense, more swans surviving winter and returning to breed.

A lot more than usual this year on the Lairg estates and the sheltered lochans.
