Endangered Nevada Butterfly (1 Viewer)

This was spotted on 7/10/2017, in a meadow at around 8000' on Mt. Charleston, approximately 30 miles west of Las Vegas, NV. It is a Mt. Charleston Blue butterfly. From what I've read, it is a subspecies of the Shasta Blue butterfly, and it occurs only at higher elevations in the Spring Mountain Range of Southern Nevada...nowhere else in the world!

I think you will struggle to get a positive id without a clear shot of the underside ........... after all there are around 30 Lycaenidae species recorded in Nevada!

Yes, you're right. That just goes to show how much I know about butterflies, which is almost nothing. I assumed if I saw a blue butterfly on the mountain, it must be a Mt Charleston Blue. I will try to get back up there and get more pics, if I'm lucky. Shane, can you ID a Mt. Charleston Blue if you see top and bottom?

PS: sorry, just realized I've been posting ID questions in the wrong subforum
