Hi.
Saw this flamingos today at El Hondo. Two of them were really tiny. I think they are supposed to reproduce on spring...
Shoulndt they be bigger by now? Or they grow up very slow?
There has been reports of lesser flamingo reproducing not far from el Hondo. But they are very rare. Never seen one.
Any idea?

My understanding is that Greater Flamingo has pale lores and bill with a black wedge on the upper half, from tthe bill bend to the tip, and Lesser Flamingo has dark lores and bill, with usually a diffuse paler area in the end half and small full black tip. This would apply for both adults and juveniles. So your birds are juvenile Greater.

Maybe some Spanish birders can comment on the time of breeding?
