egret or crane (1 Viewer)

:cat:eek:ver the past couple weeks i have noticed a bird that just seems out of place it looks like the great egret but is grey in color it is not with a flock or any other birds it just stays by itself in one particular area im not sure what bird it is im working on getting a picture of it i know it has about a 3 1/2 ft wing span we are in north east arkansas im not even sure this bird is supposed to be in this area

True... the LBH would only be there during breeding season. But the 3-ft wingspan mentioned lead to suggest the LBH as well as the GBH.

Although Great Blue Herons nest in colonial rookeries, they are typically alone when feeding or loafing all year. Sandhill Cranes are typically found in flocks in winter and in family groups in breeding season. From what you have discribed, I agree with others that Great Blue Heron (which is actually gray) sounds most likely for your bird.
