Hi all,
For all those of you in the UK, I can heartily recommend the documentary 'Birdsong', originally transmitted on RTE here in Ireland but due to be shown next Wednesday on BBC4. It follows Irish birder Seán Ronayne in his quest to obtain sound recordings of all of the regular bird species of Ireland, and is also really well shot. Anyone with an interest in birds, at whatever level, will find something of interest, and Seán is an engaging subject. He's a good friend of mine, so I admit some vested interest here, but this documentary is objectively good and worth a watch.

Regards,
Harry

I also watched it last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Séan is an engaging character whose passion shines through, and it was refreshing to watch a wildlife programme without over-the-top music, corny voiceovers and constant "dramatic" jump-cuts. Just a quiet, honest, beautiful film. The starling murmuration at the end was breathtaking.

That was really good. As Euan said, the starling murmuration was great - it's never not spectacular.

I also liked hearing the storm petrels as it reminded me of going to see and hear them at Mousa Broch in Shetland around midnight. This was from a wee compact camera so won't win any awards.
