Do Robins usually congregate in large groups? (1 Viewer)

Watching for my sring visitors here in Kentucky USA.
Late yesterday afternoon I looked out to the back lawn and saw Robins everywhere.
I counted 60 and stopped but estimate there were close to one hundred.
The 60 I counted all had bright orange breast plumage and were in an area less than a half acre. Bad news is the temp here last night was 15F.
I wonder if all the recent storms and flip flop weather temps in Jan and Feb
had anything to do with this ? We get Robins here in March but I have never
seen them in such numbers let alone so closely grouped. Lord knows the racket they'll make when they decide to go territorial with the coming warm weather (smile)

Awhile back I had an influx on hundreds and I mean hundreds of Robins. I spent the better part of 2 hours pressure washing their purple poop from the sides of my house and from the deck ;)

I've seen flocks in peanut fields of eastern NC during the spring numbering in the hundreds many times.

Years ago it was not terribly rare to see an albino in their midst, but I haven't seen one in a couple of decades.

Interesting question, in late winter how often does one see only one robin or only one cedar waxwing?

Assuming the question posed is not rhetorical, I have seen robins that have stayed late or arrived early here in nothern Kentucky in small numbers and quite often alone. However "alone" could quite well be attributed to the acuity of my scope of my observation (smile). I don't often fail to notice a group of 50 but we will have to wait and see how father time rations my sight.
