Do Robins keep Finches away? (1 Viewer)

I've just started putting food out for the birds in my garden, and while there are robins, bluetits, great tits, long tailed tits, a coal tit, blackbirds and woodpigeons, no finch has visited the feeders yet, although i have seen a chaffinch around and today a greenfinch a few gardens away.
I have noticed the robins chasing away the tits occasionally when they are feeding, could they be keeping the finches away as well or is it just a question of waiting?

The robins will be a bit territorial, especially at this time of year, and they can be plucky little things!

It can take a bit of time for some types of bird to realize that there are feeders in your garden.

First Greenfinch

I think you were right, this morning the first greenfinch visited the feeders. Hopefully its only up from here!

I have a birdbox with a camera and was thrilled after two seasons with nothing happening to see a blue tit roosting at night. Then nesting material was brought in and once saw two tits in together. After a week of intensive building a full nest was there and we waited expectantly. Then the material was taken out over two days leaving a bare box. At night the blue tit still roosts. A little bit of fluff has reappeared today but no sign of anything else.
Does anyone know what is the likely explanation? Will they come back?
