I reluctantly want to cut a climbing evergreen Clematis down in the garden - it's half dead and messy - but at present I have a blackbird nesting in the half that is green and leafy near my kitchen window. I have cut some away already (it spreads about 8 feet) in case any other birds decide to use it for nesting leaving Blackie and family well alone. Are they likely to use the nest again? I would hate to remove what's left of the greenery if there is a possibility.
I have a very fast growing evergreen ready to plant ASAP to cover the trellis for the summer so really want to remove the old one as soon as the blackbirds have fledged.
