Digiscoping with a Fuji 5600 (1 Viewer)

Is there any point in trying to digiscope with Fuji 5600. The fixed lens has a 55mm thread - is there any way of coupling this to a scope and achieving satisfactory results ? Scope not purchased as yet but would really love to avoid the need for another camera.

I had the model before yours the 5500 ( I didn't buy it to digiscope but tried it as I had it) It has the same lens type & doesn't seem suitable for digiscoping due to the 10x zoom & type of lens
I tried it hand held against the eypiece with a Swarovski ATS80HD & 20-60x zoom eyepiece & there is severe vignetting at all zoom levels
I sold the 5500 on ebay 6 months after buying it at got back as much as I paid for it new!, I then bought an F10 which is excellent with NO vignetting even at max zoom on camera & scope
The F11 would now be the best choice due to more manual control than the F10
There is a thread on Fuji F10/11 camera's under digiscoping camera's which is worth looking at

The Olympus TCON 17 1.7 x tele-convetor will fit on the S5600 which will give you 17 x zoom ( I use it on my S5500) with good results. Or there is also the Raynox 2.2 tele -convertor which also fits this camera. They both use the plastic convetror ring which comes with the camera...I did try using my S5500 for digi scoping ( I adapted a piece of plastic pipe) but found the 10x was too strong and there was far too much camera shake. (even when using the self timer).

Thanks for that everyone. I have already invested in an Olympus 1.7x convertor and as you say it works really well, particularly when the subject is within reasonable range (e.g. garden or park).

Looks like I will have to convince my 'financial controller' that I need additional hardware!
