Update: Actual number of shots taken is greater than 175 since I used BSS quite a bit. 175 is the number of shots written.
I received my Digipower DPS 9000 today. Cost after shipping was $48 US. My first impressions of the product, just from the package contents, is that it is a quality product. You get a an AC and DC charger as well as an assortment of cables to fit most cameras. The pack mounts easily to a tripod and then your camera or scope mounts to the pack.
I tested the pack from a full charge on my Coolpix 4500 and started the test at 22:20 hours on August 29. The pack was drained at 0235 hours on August 30 for a total of 4 hours and 15 minutes. The LCD was on and the camera stayed on at all times. During this time, I took 175 pictures, used zoom frequently and used the flash on 25 of these images. I used different modes such as burst and best shot selection. I did not take pictures the entire time so the camera was setting idle at some times but was always on and never allowed to auto shutdown. I transferred 1/4, 1/2 and all of the images during this time as well.
I am pleased with the pack. The only thing I don't like is that it will interfere with the pivot of the lens if you mount the camera to the pack, giving you about 45 degrees each way. When using it with my scope, the pack is mounted to the scope and does not pose any problems. Considering my method of digiscoping, and the fact that I would not be using the flash, I would not be surprised to see this pack give me 5 hours of continuous digiscoping operation. Not a bad buy for under $50 if you ask me.
