They are much bigger than the magpies that they torment, and magpies are a similar size to carrion crows.

Magpie 45cm long, carrion crow 45cm long.

The flight shot tells you alone ...the bird in the pic has a rounded tail
If you look at the Silhouette pic ..you have the crow on the right and raven on the left for comparison...plus if you hear them call the raven has a very distinct deep croak

all are carrion crows.
magpie 40-51 cm, of which tail alone is 20-30 cm! carrion crow 44-51 cm - body much larger...

Magpie 45cm long, carrion crow 45cm long.

Weight is a much better indicator of a bird's size. The length given in bird guides and other descriptions usually includes the tail and bill, which can lead to a wrong impression, like in this case.

Magpie is about the half of crow's bulk, it just has a very long tail.

Tails

Thanks to the brave members who have expressed an opinion, you got me thinking.

The tails look more like those of a raven:-

The first two photos in the first gallery are my raven suspects, all three birds have pointed tail tips.
The second gallery shows crows with flat tail tips.

It is so much easier with Hooded Crows... you get accustomed to their body shape without having to think once about ravens (or rooks)...
The guys with heavy moustache down the bill are ravens; crows have smaller moustache-less bill (especially fledglings, which I have seen quite a lot in late June).
