Can anyone identify these two insects (presumed crickets) which I photographed in Romania?

All I can say is they are deff crickets and fantastic looking, especially that big chap on your hand! There isn't much in the insect gallery at the mo and I think these should go in.

Jen :))

p.s. Just a thought - you could try and PM Callatis - he's not around a lot but he lives in Romania.

The first one might be from the genus Ephippiger, but I have never seen such a dark one.

The second one I should know , but don´t remember at the moment... I´ll have a look later...

My friend is learning to bee an Orthoptherist and said the second is an Isophya genus but he needs to see the genitalia to the precise id.

The first he will look up
