Connecticut, USA-What kind of dragonflies? (1 Viewer)

There were two different dragonflies that kept landing on my truck antenna. Whys would the be so interested in my truck antenna? Were they having some type of territorial battle? The lighting is much different in these two photos.-I don't know if it is te same species or just two very different looking photos. -The lighter photo makes it look as though the dragonfly has a smile on its face.-Can you tell me what species of dragon fly it is?-thanks

Hi,

I think,after looking on http://www.odonatacentral.org these are both Blue Dashers (pachydiplax longipennis), Many male Dragonflies take advantage of perches at various hieghts,it allows them to keep a look a look-out for prey,females and rival males.
 
Yup, Blue Dasher and probably juvenile male as I do see some blue in latter segments of its body
