Canon EF 75-300mm IS USM Mark I or Canon EF 70–300mm f/4–5.6 IS USM (3 Viewers)

I’ve found two lenses that seem very similar and I’m trying to figure out which one to buy. One is quite a bit more expensive and I’m hoping someone here could throw some advise my way about whether the higher price is justified by better quality optics and performance. Obviously, I’m referring to the lenses in the title, the Canon EF 75-300mm IS USM Mark I or Canon EF 70–300mm f/4–5.6 IS USM. A seller on FB Marketplace is willing to let go of his 75-300 for $80can, while the seller of the 70-300mm won’t budge below $150can. Both lenses are in like new condition and both are the IS USM models, but I believe the 70-300mm is the newer model and one reviewer online suggested it was superior to the 75-300mm. Superior enough to pay almost twice as much? Any advise would be appreciated.
note: the 70-300mm is not the really expensive DO or L series lens.
