Bushnell 8x42 H2O or Nikon Action 8x40? (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,
I plan to buy binoculars. I couldn't decide which one is better. "Bushnell 8x42 H2O Waterproof" or "Nikon Action 8x40"?. Which one should i choose? Thank u for your help in advance...

Out of those two I would choose the Nikon. The Nikon porro delivers a brighter and sharper image in comparison to the non-phasecoated Bushnell. The only selling point that the Bushnell would be superior is the overall size/compactness. At that price point I would consider the Leupold Yosemite or Celestron Nature as well. Even the Zhumell Short Barrel 8x42 would be preferable, in my opinion, to either of those others.

Just a thought.

Since Bushnell makes both an 8x42 H20 roof and porro, I assume you are asking about the porro, since the Nikon Action 8x40 is a porro? Based on your choices I am figuring you probably want to spend less than $100?

The Bushnell 8x42 H2O porro is waterproof and has twist up eyecups
The Nikon Action 8x40 porro is not waterproof and has fold down fixed rubber eyecups

I have had a Nikon Action 7x35 which I got rid of and got a 7x35 Olympus Trooper DPSR, which I feel is a better bino and a little cheaper, but have not looked at either of the ones you mention.

In fact, i am interested with the roof typed Bushnell. Sorry, i forget to write about it.

I have the Bushnell H2O roof prism binoculars and find them excellent, 8x42.
Bought them from binoculars.com and they were less then $100.

Also bought a set of the Bushnell Natureview 8x42 roof prisms at the same time. They are better, but I find the H2O's are smaller and cover everything I need them for.

As I do not have the Nikons I cannot make a specific comparison.

I have a feeling that the porro prism H2O's may be an older design.
