Booming Bittern (1 Viewer)

A first for me today.

Late afternoon visit to Leighton Moss. Sat in the shiny new Lower Hide watching a Bittern stalking along the reed edge. Then it stops and starts booming, out in plain view. It was only a few booms but you could clearly see him puffing up before each one.

Also first Swallow of the year but no Willow Warblers.
 
I have taken stills but really needed to be shooting video. The necks of these male bitterns triples in size as it booms out top attract a female.
