This fella has been visiting my garden for a week or so and finally dropped in today so I managed to get a photo..a poor photo but a photo!
He has a white collar almost like a reverse Ring Ouzel on the back of his neck and the local Blackbirds don' like having him around...smart bird though. B :)

Is he still coming around? It is fun when one can recognize one single bird, like our Hawfinch with a damaged wing or a Great Tit with one crippled foot.

Yep he's been back again today although I missed him whilst watching Hawfinch at Bramfield. It is good if you can recognize like this, we also have a one eyed wood pigeon which is easy to recognize. (I think he really only survives on what he finds in my garden)

I have a M Blackbird with white markings round his neck and head that as been coming to my garden, this will be his fourth winter. He's the boss of the Blackbirds in my garden. That reminds me, better put some fruit out for him.

LOL Rob.

I had two blackies with white bits. One I call Mr Spotty, as he has white spots round his head and neck. The other one had broader white feathers on his back, but I've not seen him for a while now unfortunately.

It's quite a common phenomenon throughout Blackbird distribution. Here's one from Slovenia, on the shore of stunning Lake Bohinj this year in late October (28C!).
