Hey guys

I'm taking a few people up for a long weekend mid-April and was wondering if the Black Grouse at Linn of Dee are still present and as viewable as they were last time I was there in '03?
Also, could anyone recommend a good places to see any crossbills this year..?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with the lek sites in that area, but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't still be there (apart from disturbance!). The latest counts I've seen for Mar Lodge estate (which includes the Linn of Dee) was nearly 200 blackcock on 14 leks in 2006, with numbers apparently increasing. Good luck with your trip.

PS. Linn of Dee is in Aberdeenshire, not Highland ;)

There have been Crossbill in Clash Wood behind our holiday cottages in Glenlivet quite regularly during the past few months. Around and about gridref NJ199267. They are a bit nomadic though. If you ask nearer the time I might well be able to point you in their direction.
