Bits of moss (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am new to Birdforum. Thank you so much for this space.
I live in north London.
I have a ground feeder in a roof terrace, visited mainly by robins, great tits and sparrows. I notice that bits of moss keep appearing around the little dish with the seed. I understand birds collect moss for their nests, but why stack moss in this way now in the middle of the winter? All the best

Hi Alejandra and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. I can't be sure, but I'm wondering if they may be plucking out moss from somewhere and bringing it into your garden to search it for insects perhaps.

It might be an idea to post in the Bird Behaviour forum and see if any more ideas come forward from them.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi Alejandra, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group.
