Birds Won't Use New Feeder (1 Viewer)

We used to have 2 wood feeders mounted on poles and had many birds.A little over a week ago we removed the feeders and mounted a squirrel proof feeder on one pole.The feeder is green metal.We also have 2 bird baths nearby.The birds(with a few exceptions) come and use the baths but refuse to eat from the new feeder.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Give it a little time and I am sure they will start visiting the feeder. Don't forget, natural food is more readily available now as well so those that were using the feeder to tide them over are now probably getting their fill of insects and berries. I've noticed that it usually takes a good couple of weeks for birds to come to a new feeder.

When I put up some new feeders, it took my birds pretty close to two weeks to start being comfortable using them. Longer for some of the species. Keep us posted on how you do! :t:
 
It took the sparrows that visit me about 6 months to transfer over from the peanut feeder to the sunflower seed feeder - now they love it and their only problem is competing with the starlings
 
The only feeder we ever had any probelm with birds accepting was a "squirrel-proof cage" that we put up to exclude pigeons from feeders aimed at small birds. All other feeder types have been accepted within hours - usually minutes. Since we have no squirrels in the garden we outwit the pigeons by taping over the bottom ports; then we feel guilty and open them again; then we...
