Bird Sound Recording - Essex UK (1 Viewer)

Hi there, I have an audio recording that I recorded on my mobile phone, I have listened to lots of bird sounds but have never found out what it is.
Is there somewhere I can upload it on here for people to click on to identify it for me?
The file ext is .amr if that makes any odds.

I guess there's nowhere to upload an AMR audio file then. I’ve since found some members have loaded audio files but I think I’ll need to change my file format to something that the site recognises. I’m sure I read somewhere on here the other day what files are accepted but now I can’t find them. Maybe I was on a different site. the information but can’t find anywhere that tells me what choices I have to convert it too.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to such guidelines that state what file formats are accepted, also if anyone knows of any free download conversion sites that I can use I’d be very grateful too.

In the meantime I’ll described what I heard and maybe someone could guess from my description.

It sounded like a kitten stuck up a tree, I’m 100% sure it wasn't though because as I got closer, it went quiet followed by some movement then within seconds it was coming from a tree about 100 yards away.

I made the recording late February 2009, it would arrive in the tree anytime after dark, normally between 20:00 – 22:00, the recording I made was at 01:30.

It would make a single call/sound every 6-7 seconds but would go quiet if I got too close to the tree. After recording it one evening on my mobile, the following evening when it was quiet, I played the call/sound back through my speakers on continuous loop and sure enough the bird responded as if it was answering the call.

I thought it was some kind of owl but couldn’t find anything online that sounded like it, I also checked a list of nocturnal birds but still no match.

Thanks in advance for any help.

link for sound file

Thanks for the advice, still not totally sure but it does sound very close to the Little Owl, I've managed to convert the file from amr format to mp3 and have saved it here, the following link should take you straight into it

Let me know if theres any problems with the link as its the first time I've tried anything like this.

Thanks again in advance.

Cheers lou, I'm impressed that just from my description you managed identify it correctly, well done. I'm so pleased to have finally found out thank you so much, I would've loved to have seen it too
