Bird ID DVDs for (mainly) UK species? (1 Viewer)

I am on the lookout for a good quality DVD set showing the birds of the UK.

My ideal characteristics would be:
-All species likely to be encountered in the UK
-Video footage which is useful for field ID, i.e. not just high-detail close-ups
-Comparison of similar species
-Songs and calls, if not for all species, certainly where they are helpful in ID

I realise this is a lot to ask and I am never likely to tick all the boxes. The two I have looked at are:
-British Birds Video Guide (only 270 species though)
http://shopping.rspb.org.uk/british...campaign=pla&gclid=CLbMzZCX17QCFW3KtAodvFcAWQ
-The Birds of Britain & Europe, Paul Doherty (more species covered, but less time per species)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DVD-Guide-Birds-Britain-Europe/dp/B001NFJKZW

I would be very grateful to hear of opinions on either of the above, or good or bad experiences with any of the other video guides.

Cheers, BB

I have both BB and enjoy both but for serious birding I would go for the Paul Doherty set, they're very well filmed and narrated. I think the other one will leave you wishing you'd bought the other one in the first place.

DVD Guides

Can I suggest you also consider the three DVD set on British Birds which we produce:-

http://www.birdvideodvd.com/british_birds.html

This covers all the regular British species including scarce and/or local birds like Pectoral Sandpiper and Ptarmigan (280 species in total), but excluding the real rarities. The 6 set is great if you are travelling in Europe, but includes a lot of species which you won't see in Britain.

Hope that helps.

Paul Doherty
