Bird Guide in Torrevieja (1 Viewer)

I am visiting Torrevieja in September and am interested to know if there are any local guides for this area.
I have contacted the Costa Blanca Bird Club but as of yet have not had any reply?
:t:

I have visited this area several times, however its well over 10 years since my last visit, inbetween the airport (alicante) and Torrevieja is a massive salt marsh, I use to spend most of my time here it runs right along the main road (old road now as I think they have built a massive toll road now), there are lots of areas too view the marsh and (if) its still there it's well worth a visit.

This is the saltmarsh - the main road from the Airport to Torrevieja runs right through it, but note the warnings about being careful when parking :eek!::

Also don't miss El Hondo which is even better:

I don't know which e-mail address you used when contacting the CBBC, but this one gets you in touch with Malcolm Palmer who is the president and sometimes does guided tours himself (although he's cut back recently). If he can't do you a guided tour, he will know someone who can:

malcaves (at) yahoo.es

Replace the (at) with the usual....

Graham Critchell is a local birder who guides in southern Alicante province. Malcolm Palmer has written a site guide to the area which is a little out of date but gives you the basics. I am a reasonably regular visitor to Torrevieja and will PM some details. If you fancy going up to Pego marshes contact Jules Sykes about guiding in the north of the province.

Thanks for correcting me Mark, I've been trying too remember the name of the place all night, as I said it's been over 10yrs and probably changed alot, reading your link certainly brought back alot of memories, and yes be careful with parking, very dangerous and a very fast road.

Plenty of thieves and the local Police sit there with speed guns.
