Bird feeding sites in Yorkshire (1 Viewer)

Hello all.

I am a (very) amateur bird photographer & find most of my best close-up shots have been taken at feeding stations.

Does any body know of any good places in the Yorkshire area where I can get some decent shots? I am based in Barnsley, S. Yorks but have car will travel.

My favourite haunts are:

Anglers CP - (good for tree sparrow, blue & great tits, chaffinches, reed buntings, g.s.woodpeckers, collared doves & others)

Old Moor. -(tree sparrow & tits mainly)

Fairburn Ings - (excellent for marsh tits & pheasants plus others)

Any suggestions would be very welcome,

Cheers Mick

Hi
There is a good feeding station at Forge Valley in North Yorkshire (near Scarborough). Turn off the A170 at East Ayton (sign posted Forge Valley and Hackness) where after about a mile there is a small car park on the left (room for 4-5 cars). The car park faces a number of bird tables etc. which nearly always contain food donated by kind locals. You can just sit in your car and watch various tits (including Marsh), Nuthatch, Jay, GS Woodpecker and many other species. There are several car parks along the road, but you will know when you get to the right one as you will see the bird tables.

I'll second that, the Forge Valley site lets you get to within a few feet of the action - my gallery shots of Nuthatch, Coal Tit & L.T. Tit were taken from my car here. You'll have a better chance of well-lit shots in the afternoon as the sun doesn't climb high enough over the valley sides in the morning, especially in winter.
