Best Place/Time To See Golden-Cheeked Warbler and Black Capped Vireo? (1 Viewer)

I am from the Fredericksburg/Comfort area and plan on making a trip down there sometime soon. When I grew up there I was not into birding, however, now I would really like to see Golden-Cheeked Warbler and Black-Capped vireo.

Where would the best place to see these birds be? Doesn't have to be the same place. Somewhere within about 90 miles.

Also, when is the best time to go? As I will plan my trip around it.

Golden-cheeks are arriving as we speak, and Black-capped Vireos often arrive starting March 25. Pedernales State Park has nesting Golden-cheeks and vireos, so you don't have to drive far.

Lost Maples State Natural Area has both species, and the Kerr Wildlife Management Area has an abundance of vireos.

Checking eBird (ebird.org) will allow you to see a map of sightings for both your target species under any time frame you choose.

Best of luck. I'll be looking for Golden-cheeks at Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge (which was established to bolster and protect populations of the warbler and the vireo) this weekend.

Let me know how it goes this weekend. I think I am going to plan my trip the following weekend, and am very interested in going to Balcones
