Bearded Reedling - best spots in NL (2 Viewers)

Hello,

I've been searching for a Bearded Reedling in the Netherlands but have so far struck out. Any recommendations for good birding spots? I see that Oostvaardersplassen seems pretty hot on eBird at the moment with Bearded Reedling sightings.

Thanks!

GG

You need a bit of luck and patience for these birds. A decent spot to look is at the Mokbaai on Texel, southside road there's a large reed field where they can show up. You can combine the location with spotting the birds in the Mokbaai so you're guaranteed to see lot's of things. Up close Oostvaarderplassen can work, but you need luck. They're not too shy, but hard to spot due to their camouflage and size.

They are really easy in Oostvaardersplassen. Wintertime is good as they are really active in groups feeding on the reedplumes. And of course April, May. On Marker Wadden they are extremely abundant. Not to miss. But you need to take the ferry.
