Never heard of ´em. But I love the "father and son team" thing, and "I know jack..."3:)LOL! I can´t imagine anything autofocus in bins would adjust quickly enough for flying birds, though.

Autofocus binoculars really means binoculars without focusing mecanism. Where is the miracle? With a good deep of field, they can get enough focusing while the optics wasn't too exigent. These kind of binoculars are not advisable for birding cause how far is their minimum focusing distance. On the positive side, very reliable one time they lack of mobile elements.

Minolta (back in ~1990) made some truly autofocusing binoculars with a CCD to accomplish passive phase detection, just like an autofocus SLR. They also allowed powered manually controlled focus. There was an 8x22 and 10x25. They were as bulky as full-sized binos. Never tried them.

hi sancho these bins have no focusing mecanism at all there are just in focus at everything you look at as i did have a quick look in a shop a few years ago they were only £20 8x40 i think. there is some bresser,s on ebay at moment about £15
i am in a double father and son team. week days i go birding with my dad and weekends and hols i go birding with my 13 year old son its got to be better than him hanging around on the streets.

i have the minox 10x50 wide angle auto focus bins, there all rightfor distant and flying subjects, but absolutly crap for looking into trees and bushes at close range.

Too right! Birding keeps me off the streets too....;) Seriously, great that your son is into birding, I hope he keeps it up.

I have went mad

what the hell £13 off ebay i got some i will have them by thursday i will tell you what they are like!! they will do for my little girl if they are not much good

just as i thought

Hi all got the bins last week and they are shocking the worst I have came across. they are put together like a poundland toy and when you look Thru them there is a horrible blue tint to them the focus free almost works but I think your eyes would be aching after a short while if you were crazy too be still using them after about 2 minutes . and as for them being 10x50 I put them up against my 10x50s they seem to fall short of magnification I would say about x8! I took a few shots (not good ones but at same mag) thru both of my bins for comparison 1 st two are the focus free and the 2nd lot are my bresser 10x50 from lidl for a big £10.my son calls them blue rays;) and i dont have to tell what there are like when the light fades!!:eek!:
Going to hang them on my wall above my pc as a warning for the next time I have a brainstorm:-O
