preferably calls of north american birds or of the southwest that i can download off the internet onto my mac, i can listen to whenever, a recording reading the names then playing the calls. thanks!!!:t:
Agree that xeno-canto is a great resource, but the OP wants recordings that include a voice stating the name of the bird, which you won't find there.
I don't know of any downloadable sources that meet that criteria, but there are several CDs that can be purchased (do a google or Amazon search for North American bird songs) - you could then rip the CD to have an mp3 album stored on your computer.
If push comes to shove, you can always go to Xeno-Cano, download the appropriate calls to your computer then use Audacity to chop out only the parts you want and add your own voice as to what the bird is. This is what I did to help study Costa Rica birds before I went there. A little work, but helps you learn.
