Any experiences with Boya BY-MM1 attached to Android phone? (1 Viewer)

I'm looking for an inexpensive directional external mic with windsock.

I'm not expecting miracles, but hoping for something a reasonable step up from the phone's built in mic.

Any experieces with the Boya BY-MM1, or suggestions for alternatives in the £20-50 bracket?

Online reviews seem okay, but looking for feedback from a bird recording perspective.

I've been using the Røde Video Mic Me-C (for USB-C) with reasonably good results, for a very small form factor, pocketable microphone. Not sure of the £ cost though.
