Birdguides have an account of an international group of birders doing an anti-hunting watch on the Greek island of Zakynthos being badly assaulted by a group of poachers. Three of them needed hospital treatment.
A warning to anyone to be careful in areas where illegal hunting/trapping/poaching is commonplace.

I remember seeing the trailer of Jonathan Franzen's documentary about the poaching of migrants, and one of the guys they caught on film was very confrontational. I've just located an article about it.
