Can someone tell me which bird I have at my feeder? I am trying to attract the Painted Buntings. I have had one pair of them last Oct. It is hard for me to tell the females apart. Thanks

I don't know about painted buntings, but that is definately not an american goldfinch. They have wing bars. Your bird doesn't.

Thank you all for your input. I think I can safely assume it is a Painted Bunting. Now, here is my next questions for you. Where is the male? Do they travel in pairs or groups? Can't wait to take his picture too. I look a little silly standing in the shower with all my clothes on , screen out of window, cameras, binocs, and video camera at the ready. WAITING! My 20 month old grandson thinks his Granny has gone nuts! LOL Today was a lucky day and a very active day too. Not only the bunting, but two Pileated woodpeckers came by and two red-bellied also. Not to mention the jays, carndinals, and a few others I have yet found out what they are. I'm working on for sure.
