Advice needed - starling trapped in loft (1 Viewer)

I'm guessing it got in under the eaves and now can't find its way back out. How can I help it find its way out?

The bird may well have been in there since yesterday afternoon (cats behaving oddly) so could be hungry/thirsty. If I go into the loft it flies away and hides - there's a lot of junk and hiding places in there. I've left the loft hatch open with a small bowl of s/f hearts and some water nearby - in the loft - is the bird likely to come down into the house so there's a chance of letting it out through a window?

Or is a different approach better?

[This is bound to be in the wrong sub-forum. Apologies. First place I thought of to ask for help]

Hi Catbasket

Trapped birds usually head for the brightest light (i.e. a window). Water is the most important requirement at this stage.

Can I suggest you contact someone like Wildlife Aid - unless you know of another wildlife rescue service in your area, who may be able to give you more advice.

Panic over.

It came down after about ninety minutes, I managed to shut the loft hatch and lock it in the room with the window open. It seems to have found its way out from there ok.

Now to find out how it got in and stop any more from getting trapped!
