Accommodation Near Bempton Cliffs (1 Viewer)

I want to video the bird cliffs, and to give myself a couple of days to get it right.

Weather will be an important issue, wind and/or rain not so good. This means going at short notice. Will it be necessary for me to book accomm. (pub type ideally) in advance?

I would also appreciate any recommendations as to "digs".

Have a look at Cottages4you - there are a few small cottages in the Bempton arae that are sometimes available for short breaks.

I suspect booking somewhere on the coast might be tricky at short notice but going inland a few miles should be do-able, e.g. this pub is close to where I'm based http://www.stquintinarms.com/ and only 20 mins drive from Bempton, but there are plenty of others in the area.

No shortage of accommodation in Bridlington (10 minutes from Bempton) at the moment, although you might struggle at the weekends if there is an event on.

I find it difficult to recommend places as everyone has different budgets and standards. However, the North Star Hotel at Flamborough is near to the seabirds at North Landing.

The Harmony Guest House on Marshall Ave is a good budget choice, while the Royal Hotel gets good feedback.

I can also recommend both of Nick's suggestions.

Thank you everyone. Will trundle across the Pennines next week if weather forecast seems okay. Local RSPB group had to cancel their annual coach trip through lack of support. Having been on one, it's a fair old journey there and back in a day. Nowt to bother a twitcher of course. One of the great sights and sounds (and smell) of a GB summer.

there is a YHA in scarborough. IF you cant get anything closer....tbh ive not been in it.

The one at whitby is rather posh! Being in a 16th century manor house near the abbey. Its like a swanky hotel, apart from the bunk beds.

Thanks everyone. Found a B and B in Flamborough which sufficed, town not short of a pub or three. Will hotel it next year AND make sure I don't drive via the A59 when the Show is on Grrrrr!
Managed some video like this http://youtu.be/0wBfCREpBJ0

Best watch in 720p by the way. Toggle the pic frame in the bottom left hand corner until you see 360p then scroll up to 720p. Why FB don't simply default to the higher quality is beyond me, and others,
